>Description:
This report is based on netbsd-6, but the same problem is observed on
netbsd-5 (5.2_STABLE) and -current (6.99.24) using the native (in-tree)
Xorg. It has so-far not appeared to affect pkgsrc/modular Xorg.

The machine in this report is an old HP Pavilion something-or-other
(from "dmesg.boot": HP Pavilion 04 P6322A-ABA 510c (20000RE101LOMITA))
Also observed on a pair of Dell Optiplex GX110s, but the output of
'uname -a' for those systems is not available at this time.

On machines using i810e video, either with no config file, or the
default generated by 'X -configure', the X server crashes as follows:

X.Org X Server 1.10.3
Release Date: 2011-07-08
X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0
Build Operating System: NetBSD/i386 -
Current Operating System: NetBSD faye.technoskunk.fur 6.1_STABLE NetBSD 6.1_STABLE (FAYE) #46: Mon Oct 14 19:42:57 CDT 2013 sysop@skuld.technoskunk.fur:/d0/build/netbsd-6/obj/i386/sys/arch/i386/compile/FAYE i386
Build Date: 01 August 2011 01:01:00AM

Current version of pixman: 0.23.2
        Before reporting problems, check http://wiki.X.Org
to make sure that you have the latest version.

/usr/X11R7/lib/modules/drivers/intel_drv.so: Undefined PLT symbol "I810DRIScreenInit" (symnum = 356)

Typically, the wscons display will switch to the vt used by the
X server and then stay there until one switches back to one with
a terminal session on it.

The corresponding "Xorg.0.log" is as follows:

Could you try adding i810_dri.c to the SRCS list in
 src/external/mit/xorg/server/drivers/xf86-video-intel/Makefile
and if that helps, add the diff to this PR?

 Thanks,

 Martin

That did the trick! Patch for netbsd-6 (6.1_STABLE) is as follows
(and attached, to avoid email mangling):

Will try to test on -current soon. I made a similar change in my netbsd-5
tree and will try to test soon. On netbsd-5 it may be a moot issue for
much more than the applications in the base install as so much from
pkgsrc depends on MesaLib which currently doesn't work with the native
 Xorg in netbsd-5.

 Yes, it is fixed.

For completeness sake, here is a similar patch for netbsd-5, for those
few things that can use netbsd-5 native Xorg:
