 Does reverting sys/dev/ic/vga.c to r1.112 help?

 What is the backtrace and what value do you use for hw.acpi.sleep.vbios ?

 I'd also try tracing the memory address before the instruction.
 and check that they've been enabled.
 It might be that the 'wake from sleep' doesn't set the enable bit.

 I cannot test that quickly.

 > What is the backtrace and what value do you use for hw.acpi.sleep.vbios ?

 This happens with hw.acpi.sleep.vbios being 0 or 2. The T500s do not
 resume from S3 with hw.acpi.sleep.vbios == 1.

 The tail of msgbuf and and backtrace from crash(8), pid 1680.1 is Xorg:

 Not entirely useful - looks like crash fails to follow the
 stack out of the xrstor() stub.
 OTOH I'd guess there is only one call and that is from the 'fp registers
 not present' handler.

 A real guess is that the 'wakeup' sequence does not execute the code
 that enables xsave/xrstor instructions.
 I don't have a source tree handy, but it should be easy enough to
 add a diagnostic check before the xrstor.

 Nope. I see some message flash by, the screen switches to graphics mode,
 blanks and the machine is stuck with a white cursor in the top left corner.

 hw.acpi.sleep.vbios=2.  Or 0.  1 doesn't work at all on the T500 series.

 I've noticed yesterday that this does happen to on netbsd-7 with the DRMKMS
 kernel, but not with the GENERIC kernel.

 Kernel and userland from the 201503120840Z releng build.

 (Or any of the commits in the year inbetween. but sounds like that particular
 change is enough to promote a re-check!)
