When using mate PYTHON_VERSION_DEFAULT=37 (or similar) building 
x11/mate-applets fails. It tries to build the dependency
py27-gobject3-[0-9]* but that fails:

=> Checking file-check results for py27-gobject3-3.28.3nb1
sh: cannot create /work/pkgobj/devel/py-gobject3/work/.error/check-files-prefix: directory nonexistent

Manually building devel/py-gobject3 with PYTHON_VERSION_DEFAULT=27 upfront
works around the issue.
