Architecture: powerpc
Machine: macppc
>Description:
This is seen on a G4 MacMini.
Rebooting via "shutdown -r" actually doesn't manage to reset
the machine anymore. Not sure when it stopped working...
The kernel message buffer appears as usual, and ends with
[ 972.4223960] syncing disks... done
[ 972.4324031] unmounting file systems...
[ 972.6824017] unmounting done
[ 972.6824017] turning off swap... done
[ 972.6824017] rebooting
But instead of actually rebooting, the display remains the
same, and apparently the fan control is disabled, because the
fan spins up.
>How-To-Repeat:
See above.
>Fix:
Sorry, don't know.

Hmm, works on my Quicksilver with a kernel built from yesterday's
-current. I'll try the Minis later.

Also works on my Mac mini (but with some local patches for me).
The failure may occur sometimes as reported in kern/55611?

Thanks,

I've seen it happen sometimes, but not really reproducable (on a G4
quicksilver).

Hm.

Although as noted in my case, there is no panic, and the machine
is still powered and the frame buffer contents is still shown.
I'll see about updating to a newer kernel and re-test.
