Linux distros are becoming increasing recalcitrant when it comes to small key sizes.  For instance, to connect to the CVS repo with something recent this is needed:

Host anoncvs.netbsd.org
    RequiredRSASize 1024

I think this should be added to the documentation on using CVS, such as here:
