shutdown(8) should have options for:
1. a dry run that just prints the time (in a more human-readable format than the input syntax) at which the shutdown would happen, and states in words (rather than just letters) what the other effects of shutdown are, and
2. cancelling the impending doom in case you scheduled a mistake for the future.
