I believe I was able to clear the swrast error by commenting out some lines in my xorg.conf.

 This doesn't have anything to do with NetBSD or powerpc/macppc. The pkgsrc
 pkg for Firefox 52 has been broken since it was switched to the integrated
 build of ICU.

 You need a big endian version of its data files and it only builds the
 little endian one.

 Building the big endian one is sligthly non-trivial. I can send you one
 off-list for testing.
