sysinst, off the NetBSD 1.4 sparc install floppy, installed
/netbsd.GENERIC and /netbsd.GENERIC_SCSI3. at the end of the
install it printed out the cryptic "the completed root
filesystem failed a basic sanity check." error message, with no
further explanation. turns out the problem was that neither of
those kernels is installed as /netbsd.

dunno if it's appropriate to make netbsd.GENERIC the default,
either one should install as /netbsd or sysinst should ask the
user.
