 All accounts found on google mentioning similar issues
 place blame on the X server. Please try with

 Option     "SWcursor" "true"

 In the device section of your xorg.conf and see if
 that makes any difference.

 Yes, or (I think) more specifically against the xf86-video-driver.

 I run the xorg that ships with netbsd-5, so I'll change pkg to xsrc, and
 adjust the responsible.
