>Description:
The ISO produced by the sysutils/memtestplus package does not work.
This is with memtestplus-5.01nb6 built on a NetBSD 9.2/amd64 system.
The ISO does boot and display the Memtest86+ 5.01 screen, but the
tests do not start, and the following messages are displayed:
==> Press F1 to enter Fail-Safe Mode <==
==> Press F2 to force Multi_Threading (SMP) <==
Pressing F1 or F2 does not successfully start the tests, either.
I'm seeing the same behavior both when booting the ISO from a CD-R on
a physical HP Compaq Pro 6300 SFF and in qemu.
The ISO in https://www.memtest.org/download/v7.00/mt86plus_7.00_64.iso.zip
works.
>How-To-Repeat:
cd /usr/pkgsrc/sysutils/memtestplus
make install
qemu-system-x86_64 -cdrom /usr/pkg/mdec/memtestplus.iso

It's been broken for me for several years. Someething to do with
the gcc compiler version used to build the package.
If you have a netbsd-6 host, you can try building there...

As of pkgsrc-2024Q4 it still does not work. I'm using the statically-
linked ELF binary loaded through the boot program ("/boot"). I don't
even get any messages, just the boot program's progress indicator and
then the machine resets.
The last working 'memtestplus' ELF binary I have is from April 2018.
I have a couple older ones from 2013 but they are likely also broken.
