While getting that into -10 is worthwhile, we should also patch this
in pkgsrc because it's not correct for pkgsrc to not work on the 10.0
 release.

 There are two possible fixes:
    - patch Makefile.am to not use $^ (easy enough)
    - update the pkgsrc Makefile.common to force gmake for netbsd <= 10
      (also easy enough)

 but I'm not sure about:
    - what the procedure is for patching libarchive
    - what the interaction with forcing gmake and bootstrap might be
    - and therefore, which is preferable

 Please advise...

Subject: PR/60077 CVS commit: pkgsrc/archivers/libarchive/files
Date: Wed, 21 Oct 2026 23:38:31 +0000

 Module Name:	pkgsrc
 Committed By:	dholland
 Date: Wed Oct 21 23:38:31 UTC 2026

 Modified Files:
 	pkgsrc/archivers/libarchive/files: Makefile.am

 Log Message:
archivers/libarchive: fix build on -10 / with older bmake

Avoid using $^ in the makefile. With bmake that doesn't support it,
which includes the one on -10 which is still supported, it expands to
empty and the result is that the build hangs trying to grep from
 stdin.

Once -10 is EOL this change can be dropped.

Build fix, so no need to bump anything.
