I never got that far, but the utility shell from sysinst reports
NetBSD 11.0_RC3 (GENERIC) #0: Sat Apr 4 06:08:56 UTC 2026 mkrepro@mkrepro.NetBSD.org:/usr/src/sys/arch/amd64/compile/GENERIC amd64
That is the installer kernel, though, not the installed kernel from the final machine.
>Description:
I'm trying to install a VM on top of Proxmox from the 11.0_RC3/amd64 ISO. I have the blank VM boot from the ISO, which takes me into sysinst. I partition the drives, and ask for a full (or full-no-X11) installation, and tell sysinst to use the ISO for the installation sets.

After installing the sets kern-GENERIC, modules, and base, sysinst reports

Release set base32 does not exist. [Hit enter to continue]

So either sysinst incorrectly believes it needs that set, or the set needs to be provisioned on the ISO.

... unless I'm missing something obvious.

Thanks for all good work!

Skipping the set is safe, but if you need base32 you should use
the dvd ISO (new in 11.0). The base32 set is excluded from the
cd-rom because the cd-rom has to fit under 700mb.

 ACK! I understand. Thanks!

 Module Name:	src
 Committed By:	martin
 Date: Sun Jun 21 12:56:35 UTC 2026

 Modified Files:
 	src/usr.sbin/sysinst: msg.mi.de msg.mi.en msg.mi.es msg.mi.fr msg.mi.pl
 	    util.c

 Log Message:
Hack for PR 60224 or PR 60133:
add a specific message when a compat (base32 or base64) set
or a debug (or compat debug) set is not found.
Point at the CD vs. DVD images.

Still not an ideal UI, but reworking this properly is not going
to happen before 11.0, and this is intended as a stopgap fix that
 should be pulled up.

Conditionalize some messages so they are not compiled in when
 architectures do not need it.
  - a few clearly GPT related strings conditional on NO_GPT
  - the base32/compat32 related message for PR 60224 and PR 60133
conditional on a new flag HAVE_DVD_IMAGE
