NetBSD X230.cable.virginm.net 11.0 NetBSD 11.0 (GENERIC) #0: Thu Jul 30 15:23:12 UTC 2026 mkrepro@mkrepro.NetBSD.org:/usr/src/sys/arch/amd64/compile/GENERIC amd64
>Description:
The pre-compiled GNUstep binary packages in pkgsrc are broken out of the box due to an Objective-C ABI mismatch.

When attempting to launch GWorkspace (or other GNUstep applications like SystemPreferences), the runtime crashes immediately with the error:
"Version 2 Objective-C ABI may not be mixed with earlier versions."

This indicates that core elements within the meta-pkgs/gnustep ecosystem were compiled using Clang with the modern v2 Objective-C ABI flags (-fobjc-runtime=gnustep-2.0), but a dependency or linked library is pulling in the older GCC libobjc runtime, causing the dynamic linker to halt execution.
>How-To-Repeat:
1. Perform a clean install of NetBSD.
2. Run `pkgin install gworkspace`.
3. Source the environment: `. /usr/pkg/share/GNUstep/Makefiles/GNUstep.sh`
4. Execute `openapp GWorkspace`. The application crashes instantly with the ABI mismatch message.
