While using the X (I have yet to observe this in the shell, but I have not spent long there so perhaps it could affect outside of X), I would, within 30 minutes of use experience brief freezes, and kernel panics preceeded by longer freezes

Viewing /var/log/messages, I see the message "reboot after panic [2399.4974088] panic: inputstate should never be -6" soon after reboot.

Brightness will also be automatically lowered to minimum upon reboot, even at POST.

I can't quite tell what aggrevates this issue, but once, it came almost immediately after editting a file with vi.
